Sinterklaas (also called Sint Nicolaas) is a traditional Winter holiday figure in Dutch-speaking Europe. He is a Bishop and children's friend. His helper and best loyal friend is Peter. Sinterklaas has nothing to do with Christmas. Christmas is also celebrated in the Netherlands every year. Sinterklaas arrives from Spain in a boat and has a magical white horse that can walk across rooftops. Every little kid puts his shoe at the chimney (or the window) and sings a song, when the kid goes to sleep Sinterklaas comes on the 5th or the 6th of December and puts a present in the shoe. We hope you have all been good and who knows, maybe Sinterklaas comes and visits you too tonight!
